Run from Rain
Two years ago, 16-year-old Macul Nelson lost both parents to gang violence and fled Port Lafiteau, near Haiti’s capital, for the Central Plateau. Now living with a former neighbor who acts as his grandmother and caring for his three younger siblings, Macul faces the trauma of loss amid a country destabilized by rising gang control. This short documentary follows his journey as he resists recruitment, finds belonging at a rural school, and rebuilds his life—one of more than 1 million Haitians displaced and over 300,000 children without access to education.
